Bertha "Bea" Ginga
Bea is a lifelong Southborough resident with an unmatched dedication to community service. For decades, she has served as the heart and soul of the Southborough Community House, acting as both resident caretaker and leader of the Southborough Village Society, ensuring the historic space remains a vibrant venue for local events.
A breast cancer survivor, Bea channels her strength and compassion into organizing the annual Relay for Life at Algonquin High School, raising vital funds for the American Cancer Society. Her deep commitment to Southborough’s senior community is equally impactful—she’s a regular volunteer at the Senior Center and a strong advocate for enhanced and expanded senior programs.
Bea also devotes her time to delivering meals to local families in need through Southborough’s Care Giver program and supports youth development by working closely with local Boy Scouts. Her enduring respect for service is evident in her efforts to honor veterans at annual commemorative events.
Bea was honored as one of the 2019 Unsung Heroines of Massachusetts at the State House, a recognition sponsored by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women and recommended by State Representative Carolyn Dykema.
In 2022, she also served as the Grand Marshal of Southborough’s annual Heritage Day Parade during the Southborough Village Society Inc.’s Community House Centennial Celebration.
Widely admired and affectionately known as the “unofficial Mayor of Southborough,” Bea embodies the spirit of the town through her selfless leadership and unwavering community pride.
